Year 3 News - Mrs Meech

This term, Year 3 have been working on learning about Prayer in Religious Education.  We invited Father Steven to visit and talk to us about different types of prayer and times that Jesus prayed.  We learned that sometimes people pray when they need help with something or need comfort.  One of the times Jesus prayed was in the Garden of Gethsemane when he was with his disciples.  He was aware of what was about to happen, and he prayed to God for comfort and peace.  We also created our own prayers of petition or asking prayers for the things that in which we would like God’s support.  We also had Mitch visit the class and share the messages for MJR (Making Jesus Real). We enjoyed hearing about spreading kindness and spotting the “Spirit in Jesus.” in the actions of others.

In HASS, we have been working on the area of “Civics and Citizenship” and we have investigating groups within our local communities and how they can help people, animals or the environment.  We have been examining how we can contribute to these groups, and we have come up with some ideas such as: donating food and clothing, fund-raising, looking after injured animals, picking up rubbish, planting trees and visiting aged care facilities.  We will be running the “Can for Casual Clothes Day, on 6th April to assist St Vincent De Paul in providing food to those who need assistance.
