2021 Class Stationery Packs

10 Nov 2020

2021 Class Stationery Packs
Included with today’s Newsletter is a cover letter and the class stationery pack list for your child’s 2021 class.

  • The school should have the 2021 class stationery packs available for sale to parents from Tuesday 17th November 2020 - we will be storing these packs at school and selling them to families.
  • Parents may choose to purchase items through their preferred supplier OR they may choose to purchase the stationery pack from school. Book Packs will not be split.
  • We are requesting parents refrain from purchasing outside the set stationery list - in the interests of avoiding unneeded distractions in class, please do not purchase items such as sequinned pencil, cases or outlandish stationery items that will distract children and usually causes unneeded anxiety if the item gets lost or broken.

2020 Swimming Program

20 Oct 2020

Dear Parents,

Our 10-day school swimming program will be offered Monday 9th November to Friday 20th November. We support the Latrobe Swim Centre’s request that we communicate to parents that they are currently running with the current ruling by Health and Safety Standards, in regard to “no parent/ spectator present” during swim programs whilst the facility is booked.

Class times are:

Year 5: 9.00am - 9.45am.

Year 4: 9.45am - 10.30am.

Year 3: 10.30am - 11.15am.

Year 2: 11.15am - 12.00pm.

Some important considerations include:

  • Earrings and band-aids are not to be worn in the pool.
  • Students may wear their PE uniform to and from school for the duration of the swimming program.
  • A swimming cap is essential – students will not be permitted to swim without a cap.
  • Students will walk to and from the venue under the supervision of school staff.
  • Children should bring a plastic bag in which to put their wet bathers, bathing cap and wet towel.
  • Goggles (may be worn when permitted by the instructor).
  • Students may wear bathers to school, however, they will require clean underclothes to change into - students are not to wear wet bathers underneath their school uniform: it would be beneficial if families support us by encouraging their children to dry and dress themselves at home in preparation for the swimming program;
  • Sunscreen is the responsibility of each student to bring and apply, and;
  • Permission forms will be sent home next week and must be completedby no later than 3pm Thursday 5th November.

Students will experience a variety of activities aimed at increasing confidence in the water and improving swimming skills. The Swimming Program is part of our Physical Education Curriculum and all students are expected to participate. Parents of any Year 6 student who believe their child would benefit by being involved in this program, which is aimed at developing a recognized and efficient swimming technique, are asked to please contact Mrs Kingshott or myself prior to Thursday 5th November. This involvement would be applicable for any Year 6 student who is not a competent, confident swimmer. Any Year 6 student would join the Year 5 class in their sessions.

Regards, Rod Linhart (Principal)

Inquiring Minds - Online

27 Mar 2020

Due to Inquiring Minds being postponed on school grounds we cannot offer our normal face-to-face session on Friday mornings. We would still like to keep in touch online with families of our birth-5 children and we will endeavour to do so through an online platform. Each week we will share links to different play ideas, interesting articles and general information through our Inquiring Minds Facebook group. We would love for you to join us by uploading photos of any activities that you are undertaking with your children during this time . You can access our Facebook page by clicking on the link https://www.facebook.com/groups/ 265771697675097 we will also be available between 9:00am - 10:30am each Friday during school terms to ‘chat online’ should you have any questions or ideas that you would like to add. We look forward to continuing to build our sense of community online during this interesting time in our lives.
