Principal Report

Sacrament of Eucharist

Last Sunday morning, four students completed the Sacrament of Eucharist at Our lady of Lourdes Church Devonport. The Eucharist is the Sacrament that completes the process of initiation and is when one can fully participate in the Eucharist by receiving Holy Communion. Eucharist is unique amongst the sacraments as it is the heart of our faith. For Catholics, the Eucharist, or Mass, is the most powerful way we encounter the real presence of Jesus Christ. Congratulations to Jed, Archer, Alice and Elsie who have now completed the Sacrament of Confirmation and Eucharist this year.

Athletics Carnival

Last Friday, we had a fantastic Athletics Carnival followed by the Colour Explosion. Thank you to  Kurt Atkins and Frankie Frost who organised the carnival. Thank you to all staff who contributed to the success of the day. All students participated enthusiastically in the events and the student leaders led the chants for the sports houses. Thank you to the P&F for organising the BBQ including D’Arne Adams, Kirrilly Jones, Brett and April Mahoney, Michaela Shaw, Michaela Redpath, and Sally Hawkins. The Colour explosion was amazing. Thank you to Tameka Harris for setting up the online sponsoring and the P&F for taking part in the afternoon. Students have raised approximately $3, 900. Thank you to families for joining us on a successful day.

Update on Events and Fundraisers

Thank you to Kristian Kelly for organising the truck to pick up and delivering the pies to the school. Thank you also to Tameka Harris for setting up the orders; and the sorters and packers, Sarah Youd, Claire Brooks, Kirrilly Jones, Mikayla Costello, Carley Padman, Michaela Redpath, Michaela Shaw, Gabby Riordan, Renae Dunne, and Michelle Carpenter. The P&F raised $1501.00.

Crazy Hair Day

St Patrick’s is hosting a Crazy Christmas Hair Day on Friday, 6th December (Kinder Thursday 5th)  for a gold coin donation. Students may also wear Christmas themed casual clothes or their school sports uniform. Funds from this day will go directly to the Rayner family.

During Crazy Hair Day (2:30 p.m.), D'Arne Adams will have her head shaved for the Rayner Cause. Although promoted through the school communication, we are aiming to promote to local businesses and the community on behalf of the Rayner family. Funds can be deposited directly to the account for the Rayner's.

Christmas Soiree and Christmas Raffle

On Friday, 6th December, from 5.00-7.00 pm, St Patrick’s is holding a Christmas Soiree on our school grounds.  The Christmas Soiree will be an evening of Christmas Carols, Santa Claus, food and stalls. This event has been planned to support our Catholic Mission of bringing our community together to celebrate Christmas and the end of the school year. Funds that are raised from the Soiree will go towards the outreach organisations we support such as St Vincent De Paul and Gran’s Table.

The P & F in conjunction with the Soiree are running a Christmas Raffle with tickets being sold in the lead up to, and at the Soiree evening. Profits from the raffle will go towards purchasing resources for the school in the future.

Keep a look out for all events happening this term in the fortnightly newsletter ‘What’s Happening’.

Building Works 2025

The beginning of 2025 will be a big year for the school where we will begin the building of three new classrooms. These will be built in place of the demountable near the staff car park. The existing kindergarten, prep and year 1 classrooms will be extended with new break out rooms and verandahs. Plans for these classrooms will soon be on display in the open space in the main building.
