Principal Report

Welcome back to term 2
Mother’s Day
Thank you to all the lovely ladies who came to our very special Mother’s Day celebration. We celebrated our mums, stepmums, grandmothers, aunties and significant ladies in our students’ lives. Our Staff had been very busy organising the afternoon activities as well as creating gifts with students. Thank you to the three gentlemen who served our special guests. Thank you to Mrs Dunn and our Year 6's for organising the Mother's Day Liturgy. Thank you to D’Arne Adams and David Broos for organising the photo booth. Many beautiful photos were taken. We hope everyone enjoyed the afternoon.

Capital Building Works

Last week, some of the new building works in the Kinder, Prep and Year 1 classrooms have been handed over, with a small amount of finishing off happening. The newly refurbished spaces have extended each classroom with a student support room in each. Each classroom will open onto a new verandah in coming months. Our new three new classrooms and maintenance shed are progressing steadily.

Winter Uniforms

As we begin Term 2, please note that students are now expected to transition from the Summer to the Winter uniform.

We have observed that some students are still wearing short-sleeved items, which are part of the Summer uniform. We kindly ask that you ensure your child is dressed in the appropriate Winter uniform pieces moving forward.

  • Prep to Year 6:
    • Monday, Wednesday, Friday: Academic uniform

COVID 19, Cold and Flu

COVID confirmed cases

Staff or students who test positive or who display acute COVID-related symptoms are not to enter a school until their symptoms have gone or have significantly resolved e.g. they have not had a fever (or signs of fever such as chills or night sweats) for at least 24 hours.

COVID-19 testing

Staff or students with respiratory illness symptoms should stay home and test for COVID-19. If the initial test result is negative and symptoms continue, staff and students are advised to take a second test the following day.

Registration of positive tests, whilst no longer required, is recommended particularly for those persons who may wish to access health services such as COVID anti-viral treatments or COVID @ home.

Staff and students who test positive for COVID-19 but who are asymptomatic can enter a school.

Colds and flu

Staff or students with cold or flu symptoms should stay home and test using a rapid antigen test for two consecutive days. If the person tests negative on successive days for COVID-19 and their symptoms are mild e.g. a runny nose but no coughing or sneezing, then it is OK for the person to be at school.

Parking

Thank you to our school community for supporting the school during the building works. I understand parking can be challenging at drop off and pick up time. Parking is available on streets surrounding the school including Last Street and Gilbert Street. Please do not park across footpaths as this forces pedestrians to walk onto the road. Please be mindful of short term parking spaces in front of the school. Parents use these spaces to drop off and pick up children from childcare and usually have children’s belongings to carry.

Please note: Police have advised that the parking spot marked with an X must be left available for residents to be able to exit their premises safely.
