Principal Report
Installation of Archbishop Anthony Ireland
On Tuesday, I had the great privilege of representing St Patrick’s at the Installation Mass of our new Archbishop, Anthony Ireland, held at St Mary’s Cathedral in Hobart. It was a truly memorable and spiritually uplifting event, rich with tradition, music, and prayer.

The ceremony marked an important moment in the life of the Archdiocese of Hobart, as Archbishop Ireland officially began his pastoral leadership. Clergy, school representatives, parishioners, and dignitaries from across Tasmania gathered to welcome him and offer their support as he takes on this vital role.
It was inspiring to witness the unity and reverence of the occasion. The Archbishop spoke with humilityand hope about his vision for the future of our Church, and he encouraged all of us to walk together in faith, service, and community.
We look forward to seeing how Archbishop Ireland will guide and strengthen our Archdiocese in the years ahead. Please keep him in your prayers as he begins this new chapter of ministry.
Brave Hearts Keep Safe Adventure Show
This show will be presented on Thursday 4th September at 11:40 a.m. Parents are invited to attend this show.
This term, we have invited Ditto from Brave Hearts to present their Brave Hearts Keep Safe Adventure Show. This program is aligned with the Australian Curriculum and the Early Years Learning Framework. This is a live incursion aimed at students from Kindergarten to Year 2. It’s a fun and engaging program that teaches our youngest learners the principles of personal safety. Teaching young children these principles can help to increase resilience and reduce the risk of child sexual abuse, as well as other forms of abuse including family violence and bullying.
- Differentiating safe and unsafe feelings
- Recognising the body’s warning signs
- Body ownership and that it is ok to say no
- Helping children name public and private parts using anatomically correct names
- Reinforcing that there is no secret that children cannot tell someone
- What to do if you feel unsafe or unsure
These personal safety principles are distilled into three easy-to-remember ‘rules’ that are reinforced throughout the Show. ‘Ditto’s 3 Rules’ are:
- We all have the right to feel safe with people.
- It’s ok to say NO if you feel unsafe or unsure.
- Nothing is so yucky that you can’t tell someone about it.
Fire Safety Tuesday 2nd - Friday 5th September
The Tasmania Fire Service delivers a home fire safety program in Tasmania for primary school aged children. The program has been designed to teach children from the ages 6 to 12 years about basic home fire safety. Lessons and resources are delivered by specially trained firefighters of the Tasmania Fire Service. The age appropriate program is designed to raise fire awareness in children.
Key Fire Safety Messages include:
- Wake up - Install a smoke alarm in every bedroom
- Plan and practice a home fire escape plan with the whole family In a fire crawl low and go, go, go to the nearest exit In an emergency call triple zero
- Keep flammable material at least two metres from the heater
- If your clothes catch fire, stop, drop, rock and roll Keep matches and lighters away from children
- Cooking - Turn it off before you turn away
- Cool a burn under cold water for at least 20 minutes
- Most house fires can be avoided. Make your home fire safe
Have a great week!
