Principal Report
What Does Catholic Culture Really Mean?
At times, we hear people say:
“Being at a Catholic school isn’t really important to me.”
But when we ask:
“Do you want to be part of a community where people are kind, respectful, caring, compassionate, trustworthy and show forgiveness?”
The answer is always a clear yes.
So what’s going on?
The Heart of Catholic Culture
Many people don’t realise that these values — the ones they care about deeply — are exactly what Catholic culture is built on and they come from Jesus.
When we talk about Catholic culture, we’re not just talking about religion classes or church events.
We’re talking about:
- Treating others with kindness and compassion
- Showing respect to everyone
- Being trustworthy and fair
- Welcoming others and standing up for what’s right
- Supporting one another as a community
These aren’t just nice ideas — they’re core Catholic values. And they shape how we teach, learn, and care for each other every day.
Living Our Values, Every Day
Helping students make this connection matters.
It helps them see that the culture they want — a safe, respectful, and inclusive school — is grounded in the very values our Catholic tradition has always upheld.
Together, we’re building more than just a school — we’re shaping a community based on dignity, love, and shared responsibility.
Every school day matters.
We love seeing your children at school, every day. Going to school every day gives your child every chance to learn, grow and connect with their friends and teachers. It gives our staff and students a chance to engage with your child.
To support your child’s learning, schools are required under the Education Act 2016 to monitor attendance closely. If a student is absent for 5 consecutive days or 10 days in a school year in a year, we must notify parents. If absences continue a medical certificate is required and we'll work with families to create a support plan.
Please continue to use the COMPASS app to notify us of absences. Even if absences are logged there, we are still required to follow up when thresholds are reached.
We all play a part in helping our kids get to school every day. Please know that if you’re struggling to get your kids to school, help and support is available. If you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s attendance, please contact the school office to make an appointment or visit Anything can happen - Department for Education, Children and Young People.
Supporting Student Health – Medication at School
St Patrick’s Catholic School is committed to providing a safe, supportive environment for all students. As part of this commitment, it’s important that any medication your child needs during school hours is managed safely and responsibly.
If your child requires medication at school—whether short-term (like antibiotics) or long-term (such as asthma or allergy treatments)—please contact the school office so we can ensure the correct forms are completed and safe procedures are in place.
Please see the attached flyer Medication at School, Parent Responsibilities.
Thank you for helping us support the health and wellbeing of all students.
Have a great week!
