Staff for 2025
Currently, staffing for the 2025 school year is being finalised. Once we have all staff confirmed for 2025 announcements for class teachers will be communicated to families. Class orientations for 2025 students (Prep - Year 6) and their teachers will be held on Tuesday 3rd December.
UPDATE OF ENROLMENT FORM/TERMS OF ENROLMENT
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing the best possible educational experience, Catholic Education Tasmania has continued to monitor and revise the Enrolment Form/Terms of Enrolment used by Catholic schools. Some of these updates are a result of changes outside of Catholic Education Tasmania and the system is required to update some areas of the Enrolment Form/Terms of Enrolment to align with these requirements or changes. We will therefore be introducing several updates to the Enrolment Form/Terms of Enrolment, which will apply to all current enrolments continued in 2025 as well as to new enrolments from 2025.
The changes to the Enrolment Form/Terms of Enrolment are as follows:
- Minor adjustments and refinements to assist with completing the Enrolment Form.
- Inclusion of a new definition for Extra-Curricular Activities.
- Inclusion of participation in school sports in the definition for Minor Excursions.
- Inclusion of an additional clause 2.7 regarding cancellation of a Student’s enrolment.
- Inclusion of new information and clauses associated with fees and charges, including interest chargeable, purchases, equipment/property, and extra-curricular activities.
- The separation of Suspension and Termination into two separate clauses and new information provided under the Termination clauses.
- Updates to the Personal Information Collection Notice to align with updates in legislation requirements and use of information communication technology.
- Inclusion of a new clause covering the use of CCTV on Catholic School sites and TCEO sites and use of recordings of class activities/staff teaching class for the purposes of curriculum evaluation, review of education practices and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students and staff.
- Inclusion of a new clause regarding the creation and maintenance of student user accounts for Microsoft products and/or Google Workspace for Education, due to changes by these product providers and our legal and child safety obligations.
The updated Enrolment Form and Terms of Enrolment will be used from Monday 13 January 2025. By continuing your child’s enrolment in 2025 from Monday 13 January 2025, you will be taken to have accepted these updates to the Enrolment Form/Terms of Enrolment.
If you have any queries about the updates, please contact the school office on 6426 1626 or by email stpatslat@catholic.tas.edu.au before the close of business on Friday 29 November 2024. We would be happy to discuss the incoming changes with you further.

Have your say on the future of Tasmania’s education system
Did you know, the Tasmanian Government has established an Independent Review of Tasmania’s Education System? The Review is being undertaken to provide advice to the Tasmanian Government on how to improve our education system over the next 10 years.
The Review wants to hear from every Tasmanian, including children and young people of all ages, families, those working in the education sector and members of the community.
There are multiple ways you can get involved.
- Respond to the public Consultation Paper
- Complete the survey for educators, families and the community
- Complete the short survey for students, and/or
- Specifically for children and young people, submit a creative response to the question
You can answer this question by providing an image of a piece of artwork you have done (with a short explanation), or something written – a short story, a sentence, a paragraph, a poem – the choice is up to you!
Creative submissions, including which year level you are in, can be sent to the Review
- by email contact@ier.tas.gov.au or
- posted to GPO Box 104, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 7000 - Attention: Independent Education Review.
Submissions responding to the Consultation Paper must be lodged by Sunday 13 October 2024, and all other consultation opportunities will close on Sunday 27 October.
Visit www.ier.tas.gov.au today, to learn more and have your say!
On Tuesday the 24th of September, Prep students travelled by bus to visit the Devonport Library and the Devonport Regional Gallery at the Paranaple Arts Centre.
Students toured the library learning about the facilities and services that the library offers. After our library tour, students explored the Devonport Regional Gallery. Prep students viewed the exhibition ‘This is Us’ created by young local artists. Art media included mixed media sculpture, drawing, collage and more. Students also visited the ‘Universe of Paper’ wonderland which was a forest constructed of white paper and made by volunteers from many communities across North and North West Tasmania. Prep enjoyed the opportunity to sketch the artworks.
Please enjoy viewing the gallery of photos from our excursion.
Congratulations to the following students who have received Student of the Week.

We have had feedback from some families that they are finding it hard to get into the Midford Shop due to the limited opening hours. Midford is looking to extend their shop hours in the future until this happens we have arranged for Midford to do weekly drop off to the school. This will commence from Term 4 when you make an order online if you choose to click and collect you can note in the notes section that you would like it delivered to school. Deliveries will be made from the Midford shop to school every Monday and will be taken to your child's class.
Please do not park over the driveway in Bradshaw Street this is a NO Parking zone and has a yellow line to mark this, by parking over the driveway you are blocking the emergency exit/entry and also obscuring views of the school crossing.
As per Transport Tasmania website - Tasmanian Road Rules
You must not stop or park on pedestrian crossings, or within 20 metres as you approach, or 10 metres as you depart. This helps to make sure that the crossing is always visible to other vehicles as they approach.
Thank you for helping us keep our students safe!

Research shows that the first five years of a child’s life are critical for their development. The experiences they have can shape who they become as an adult. We realise the importance of these years and ensure that our SETUP sessions are full of play-based activities that allow children to investigate and learn in their own way.
Lots of time spent playing, talking, listening and interacting with you helps your child learn the skills they need for life. These skills include communicating, thinking, solving problems, moving and being with other people and children. That’s why our SETUP sessions allow children time for provocative play and exploring both on their own and with other children. We do offer arts and crafts, storytime, interactive games and activities as well as outside play.
Our sessions run every Friday from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m during school terms. Please bring a piece of fruit, a hat and drink bottle. Tea and coffee is provided for parents/carers. We hope to see you there!
