Donut Drive
This week, the wonderful bakers at Banjo’s Latrobe have been busy cooking up delicious donuts for our fundraiser. Thanks to the amazing effort from our Parents & Friends Committee, we’re excited to share that we raised a fantastic $1,528.80 through the Donut Drive! A big thank you to Banjo’s for supplying the tasty treats, and to all our families for your generous support.
Let’s continue supporting our local Banjo’s Bakery whenever we can!
Archbishop Installation
Pope Leo XIV has appointed Bishop Anthony Ireland as the new Archbishop of Hobart. Bishop Ireland will succeed Archbishop Julian Porteous, who is retiring after almost 12 years at the helm of the Hobart Archdiocese. In addition to his recent experience as an Auxiliary Bishop in Melbourne, Bishop Anthony, the Archbishop-elect has also been involved in both academic and spiritual formation as a lecturer and seminary rector and has considerable experience also in parish ministry and in the ministry of health care. His many gifts will be warmly welcomed by the Catholic community of the Archdiocese of Hobart as their new Bishop seeks to live out his episcopal motto, ‘Confirm, strengthen and support’ (1 Peter 5.10).”
Bishop Ireland, 68, grew up in Melbourne’s inner south and studied at the Corpus Christi Seminary College. He was ordained a priest in Melbourne in September 1987 and served in the parishes of Grovedale and Torquay, Mentone, Sandringham, Langwarrin, Frankston and Doncaster. During his priesthood, he studied moral and spiritual theology and completed a doctorate in Rome. He has lectured in moral theology at Catholic Theological College in East Melbourne and was head of the Department of Moral and Practical Theology for eight years. He tutored at Corpus Christi Seminary College and served as its Dean of Studies and Rector.
Pope Francis appointed him an Auxiliary Bishop for Melbourne in May 2021, and he was ordained Bishop in July of that year.
Conduct of Sports Teams
Just a friendly reminder that all players and families involved in St Patrick’s sporting teams are expected to follow our Code of Conduct during tournaments and events. This helps us create a positive, respectful and enjoyable environment for everyone.
Please note that any breaches of the Code may result in disciplinary action by the school or the sporting association, which could include removal from the team or exclusion from future events. We appreciate your support in upholding these standards and helping our teams represent St Patrick’s with pride and integrity.
A message from the Department of Health
Subject: Calling on Parents + Friends: Help shape a healthier Tasmania
Good morning, parents and friends,
We’re building a 20-Year Preventive Health Strategy for Tasmania – and we want the voices of parents from every corner of our state.
Health doesn’t start in a clinic. It starts where life does. Things like housing, food, income, safe schools, transport, and time to rest – they shape over 70% of our health.
Right now, too many Tasmanian families are falling ill—physically and mentally—not because of personal choices, but because of systems that make life harder than it needs to be. The most striking part? Much of this illness is preventable.
Join a free online workshop just for parents and friends to share what needs to change.
Pick a session that works for you:
Each session runs for 1 hour – join the conversation from home!
Let’s fix the system – not just the symptoms.

Have a great week!

Prep has had another huge term where we have begun to embed our learning through a variety of math and literacy games. We are so clever because now we are having a go at writing a short sentence about a story we have read. Our favourite games at the moment are counting games called Buzz and the Ghost game. We are all looking forward to a fun-filled term three.

Jump Off Day is TOMORROW! And it's going to be an exciting afternoon full of skipping fun and fundraising celebrations. So far, our students have fundraised a massive $4,904.00 for the Heart Foundation- Wow, what an amazing effort!
Skipping Showcase Schedule

- 2:15 – 2:45 PM Years 1, 3 & 5

Each group of classes will take turns presenting their skipping routines to the other students. During the rest of the time, students can join in with large rope activities or share individual skipping ropes.
Families are warmly invited to attend and cheer on the students as they show off their new skills.
We’re looking forward to an energetic and fun afternoon celebrating everyone’s hard work!
A friendly reminder that 2026 Kindergarten enrolments will close tomorrow, Friday, 4th July.
If you have a child born in 2021 and haven’t yet submitted your enrolment form, please ensure it is completed and returned as soon as possible. Forms are available at the school office or can be downloaded from our website: https://www.stpatslatrobe.tas.edu.au/

Get Ready – Richardson Cup Registrations Are Now OPEN!
We’re thrilled to announce that registrations for the 2025 Richardson Cup are officially open! Whether your school has expressed interest or we've heard from enthusiastic parents/guardians wanting to register their child, we’re so grateful for your support in bringing this exciting event to life.
Kick-off is Wednesday, August 27 at Byard Park – and we can’t wait to see your school out on the field!
Each school team will need a coach or team caretaker – someone to guide the players and look after team jumpers during the 4-week program. If a team is made up of students from multiple schools and no one steps forward, we’ll make sure a coach/caretaker is provided.
What’s Provided?
- Umpires and game day coordinators (thanks to AFL Tas, NWFL, and local clubs!)
- All equipment – footballs, goal posts, and more
- Changeroom facilities for players
- A professionally run experience from start to finish!
Next Steps
Registration QR Code and a reminder of the competition rules. Registration is due by Wednesday, August
13 – this helps us create a fair and inclusive game-day roster.
Final rosters will be sent out to schools and parent/guardian contacts a week before the action begins.
Thank you again for your amazing support. If you have any questions at all, we’re here to help – just reach out!
Let’s make the Richardson Cup one to remember!
