Mini Vinnies - Can 4 Casual Clothes Day / Winter Woolies
A big thank you to our Mini Vinnies group for organising two meaningful fundraising events. We are also grateful to our school community for their generous support of Can 4 Casual Clothes Day and the Winter Woolies Wednesday.
Today, the donated items were delivered to St Vincent de Paul. We were pleased to receive a letter of appreciation from the Society of St Vincent de Paul, St Joseph’s Conference, acknowledging the kindness and generosity of our school community.
Partnering with Families for Student Success
At St Patrick’s, we believe that strong partnerships between families and educators are key to helping every child thrive. When we work together, we create a supportive environment where children feel safe, confident and ready to learn.
If you ever have questions, concerns, or simply want to share something about your child’s experience, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Whether it’s a quick chat with your child’s teacher, a conversation with a member of the leadership team, or a meeting with me as principal - we’re here to listen, support and work with you.
Your voice matters, and together, we can make a real difference.
Mental Health Supports Survey for Parents and Carers
Catholic Education Tasmania (CET) is undertaking an independent Review of Mental Health Supports, facilitated by Altum Counselling and Consulting Pty Ltd. The review is evaluating how well current mental health and wellbeing supports are provided across CET schools and how they reflect our Catholic mission and commitment to care.
Specifically, the review will consider:
- The accessibility and effectiveness of student counselling services,
- How complex mental health needs are supported and managed,
- The reach and impact of mental health initiatives for staff and students, and
- How all of this is integrated into CET’s broader governance and Catholic identity.
We warmly invite you to complete a short survey (approx. 8–15 minutes) to share your perspective. You do not need to have detailed knowledge of these areas—your experience as a parent or carer is what matters. Even if you feel unsure about some questions, your input is still important and helps us build a fuller understanding across the system.
Your responses are anonymous and will not be linked to your name or contact details. All data will be reported in a way that protects individual identities.
Thank you for partnering with us. Your voice will directly inform improvements in how we care for the wellbeing and dignity of every student in our school communities.
Please access the survey via this link: Parent/Carer Survey
Please ensure this survey is completed by Friday 9th August, 2025.
Thank you for taking the time to contribute. Your voice will help strengthen mental health support across all Catholic Education Tasmania Schools.
Music and HPE Specialist Lessons
Last term, Leonie Watson Peters commenced Long Service Leave from St Patrick’s. During her time away, Leonie made the decision to retire from her role at the school.
This term, we are delighted to welcome Carine Kruger as our new Music teacher. Carine brings extensive experience in music education and production coordination. We’re excited to have her join the St Patrick’s community and look forward to the contributions she will make.
We also farewell Allison Pegus, who will be taking time away following a procedure required after breaking her wrist last term. We’re pleased to welcome Mr Quentin Von Stieglitz as our new HPE teacher. Quentin returns to Tasmania after a period working on the mainland and brings with him a strong background in Sport. We’re excited to have him join the team at St Patrick’s.
Have a great week!
Carmen Aylott
Principal.

Reconciliation / NAIDOC Week Art
During Term 2, students designed a football guernsey for the Tasmanian Devils, inspired by the Sir Doug Nicholls Round, which celebrates and honours Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander AFL players. As part of their learning, students explored Aboriginal art and the use of traditional symbols. They discovered how these symbols are used to tell stories, and each student incorporated them into their unique guernsey design.
Please enjoy viewing the guernseys in the photo gallery.

Congratulations to our Year 1/2 boys who competed in the recent Devonport Primary Basketball Tournament. The team showed fantastic effort, played with great spirit, and represented our school with pride. It was wonderful to see their teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship on display throughout the event.
A big thank you to the parents and families who supported the boys—special mention to Aydon Briggs for coaching & Matt Creely for being the team referee.

Get Ready – Richardson Cup Registrations Are Now OPEN!
We’re thrilled to announce that registrations for the 2025 Richardson Cup are officially open! Whether your school has expressed interest or we've heard from enthusiastic parents/guardians wanting to register their child, we’re so grateful for your support in bringing this exciting event to life.
Kick-off is Wednesday, August 27 at Byard Park – and we can’t wait to see your school out on the field!
Each school team will need a coach or team caretaker – someone to guide the players and look after team jumpers during the 4-week program. If a team is made up of students from multiple schools and no one steps forward, we’ll make sure a coach/caretaker is provided.
What’s Provided?
- Umpires and game day coordinators (thanks to AFL Tas, NWFL, and local clubs!)
- All equipment – footballs, goal posts, and more
- Changeroom facilities for players
- A professionally run experience from start to finish!
Next Steps
Registration QR Code and a reminder of the competition rules. Registration is due by Wednesday, August
13 – this helps us create a fair and inclusive game-day roster.
Final rosters will be sent out to schools and parent/guardian contacts a week before the action begins.
Thank you again for your amazing support. If you have any questions at all, we’re here to help – just reach out!
Let’s make the Richardson Cup one to remember!
